Randy Scott Smith

Randy Scott Smith September 17, 1944 – February 13, 2015 Randy Scott Smith, 70, of Lucama passed away Friday. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday with Masonic Rites in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Frank Haggard will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Randy was a farmer and he also worked at several tobacco warehouses, Southern States and Cardinal Chemicals. He was a long time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a member of Lucama Lodge #27. He attended NC State and was an avid Wolfpack fan. Randy was a loving husband, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. Randy is survived by his wife of fifty years, Betty Jo Pearson Smith of the home; his sisters, Carol Pittman and husband, Charles of Wilson and Cathy Sullivan and husband, Earl of Lucama; his brother, Seth Smith and wife, Frances of Lucama; his step-father, James T. Lamm of Wilson; special aunt and uncle, Brenda and Billie Cooper; best friends, Pam and Johnny Fortson; special friends and neighbors, Ricky and Julie Herring, and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Osborne Smith and Mildred Smith Lamm and his infant brother, Bruce Smith, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sudan Shriners Hospital for Children, 403 East Front Street, New Bern, NC 28560-4916 or a charity of your choice.
