Rayford Delton Joyner

Rayford Delton Joyner, 84 of Elm City passed away peacefully Friday evening at home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.  A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson.  Rev. David Allen will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 5 – 6:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Delton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him.  He loved working in his yard and was well known for his vegetable garden.  Delton was loved by all and will be greatly missed and will be remembered with wonderful memories.

Delton is survived by his daughters, Dianne Pittman and husband, Hardy, and Mary Lois Stancil and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Matthew Stancil and wife, Allison, Daniel Stancil and wife, Amber, and Kasey Pittman West and husband, Noah; great-grandchildren, Ellington Stancil, Delton Stancil, Weston Stancil and Jameson Stancil, and baby West on the way in March; sister, Velma Winstead of Elm City, and his brother, Chessel Joyner of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois Jean Wiggins Joyner;  his parents, Luther and Effie Joyner; eight sisters, and three brothers.
