Raymond "Ray" Clarence White

Raymond (Ray) Clarence White January 13, 1952 – June 20, 2017 Raymond Clarence White “Ray”, 65, of Wilson, peacefully went home to meet the Lord on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Ray, as he was known to his friends, was born on January 13, 1952 to Joshua Lawrence “JL” and Carolyn Grice White. Ray had many God given talents but his love for music and his ability to play instruments without sheet music was among his greatest. Ray’s love of music started in high school when he, his brother Bill and a couple of friends started their own band.  Give Ray a song and a few minutes listening to it and he could play it. Ray was introduced to hunting and fishing early in his life and his skill and love of it was shared with his family and friends. Ray enjoyed his family and friends and always had a joke, remark or comment that was his way of expressing his love for you. Perhaps Ray’s greatest joy was being a grandfather.  While only playing that role for a few short years, he looked forward to every minute he shared with them. Ray is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Alice Holland White of Wilson; his daughters, Laura Carver (Stephen) of Clemmons, and Rachel Johnson (RG) of Wilson; his mother, Carolyn Grice White of Knightdale; his brother Bill White (Renee) of Wilmington; his sisters, Lynn Jenkins (Ken) of Knightdale, and Diana Williams (Harold) of Wilson;  his beloved grandchildren, Corben Johnson, Kyndal Carver, Khloe Carver, and Kennedy Carver,  and a host of nieces, nephews, classmates, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joshua Lawrence White. His funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, with the family receiving friends prior to the service from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.  The Rev. DeWayne Eakes and Rev. Kelly Smart will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family would like friends to make donation to the NC Wildlife Association, 1701 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1700 in honor of Ray.  Condolences may be directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home at www.joyners.net.
