Rebecca Bass Cooke
October 23, 1929 – August 18, 2021
Rebecca Bass Cooke, 91 of Wilson passed away Wednesday. Her funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Evansdale United Methodist Church, 4334 Evansdale Road, Wilson. Graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Pastor Randy Innes will officiate.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
Becky loved her church and church family where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir for over fifty years. She spent many hours in the kitchen and loved cooking for her family and friends. Becky also enjoyed working at the Soup Kitchen in Wilson where she spent many hours volunteering.
Becky is survived by her second husband, Jim H. Cooke; son, Jeff Bass (Pam) of Wilson; grandson, John William Bass, II (Amber Hinnant) of Wilson; sister, Peggy Coleman (Carroll) of Wilson; step-daughters, Angie Blanton (Michael) of New Bern, and Ruth Cooke of Baltimore, Maryland; step-sons, Danny Cooke (Felicia) of New Bern, Clint Cooke (Janet) of Greenville, and Dr. James H. Cooke, Jr. (Vicky) of Concord; ten step-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John William Bass; parents, Connie, and Elizabeth Taylor; sisters, Marjorie Gardner, Bertie Williams, and Virginia Massey, and her brothers, James Taylor, Pete Taylor, and Bobby Taylor.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to her caregivers, Kim Denton, and Sandra Davis, and special thanks to Parkwood Village and the Landing.
