Rebecca Baker Mylum September 11, 1921 – August 26, 2017 Rebecca “Becky” Baker Mylum, 95, of Wilson passed away Saturday. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 311 W. Nash Street, Wilson.  Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson.  The Rev. Dr. Doug Murray, Rev. Steve Clayton, and Pastor Daniel Heath will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Becky was a loving mother, grandmother, and a friend to all that knew her. She graduated from the University of Kentucky, and became a Home Economics teacher in Stamping Ground, Kentucky.  In 1970 she retired from Wilson Medical Center, where she started the Dietary Department.  A member of First Baptist Church since September 1947, Becky sang in the choir, played hand bells and was active in the WMU.  After teaching the teenagers at church, she developed an interest and love for making baskets. Becky joined the NC Basketmaker’s Association. She held workshops, and taught the Baptist Women and the Caswell Baptist Assembly on the coast. She also taught basket making for four years at Wilson Community College and the Extension Club. Becky is survived by her daughters, Jane M. Gardner of Wilson, Libby M. Privette of Wilson, and Jenny M. White and husband, Allen of Wendell; her grandsons, Travis White, and Bryan White; her granddaughters, Anna White (Ermane Theophin), and April Privette; four great-grandchildren; her cousins, Judy Hudson Carroll, and Jed Hudson; her special care givers, Beverly Saunders, Shirley Knight, Abby Knight, and Sue Knight, and her faithful canine companion, Jill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wilson Mylum, and her parents, Rufus and Elizabeth Baker. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed in Becky’s memory to the National Foundation for Transplants, North Carolina Transplant Fund, in honor of Sandy Pittman, 5350 Poplar Avenue, Suite 430, Memphis, Tennessee.
