Rhonda Jean Sanders was born on May 4, 1952, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to HL Sanders and Margaret Ozelle Terry Sanders. She passed away at seventy-one on August 16, 2023.
Her family lived in Chattanooga Tennessee where her father was the owner of HL Sanders Construction. When she was ten, her mother passed away from cancer. Her father married Arlene Young when she was twelve. She considered Arlene her mom and they had a close relationship throughout their lives.
She is proceeded in death by her father, mother, mom and beloved puppies, Zach and Bailey.
She was always inquisitive when choosing to major Chemistry at UT Chattanooga. Her professional career took her from Tennessee to Georgia and finally to North Carolina. Her specialty was Quality Control and she held various positions in what she considered the exciting field of pharmaceutical manufacturing. She retired from Purdue Pharma in Wilson.
Rhonda was a devout Christian. She was a life-long student of the Bible. One of her favorite pastimes was singing. She was a member of the Farmington Heights Church of God and the Encounter Worship choir. She was also active in the Senior Adult Ministry Group, Y.E.S. (Young Enough to Serve).
Everyone who knew her knew of her love for dogs. She rescued and loved many, considering them family.
She is survived by cousins, Alan Burdine of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Karen Burdine Mullowney of Seabrook, Texas and dearest friends, Woody and Joan Chunn, Michele Spinella, Paul Curtis all of Wilson, and her precious fur babies, Bently and Uda.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Farmington Heights Church/Senior Adult Ministry Memorial Fund.
A private Memorial Service, celebrating Rhonda’s Life, will be held by family and friends.
