Robert Davis Barringer February 14, 1933 – August 22, 2015 Robert “Bob” Davis Barringer, 82, of Elm City passed away Saturday. A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Cliff Lewin will officiate. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Bob proudly served his country honorably with the US Navy. In the early years, Bob was an IRS Auditor and then he settled into working at Wilson Community College. He was the Dean of Fiscal Affairs for eleven years and retired as a Professor after thirty-two years. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed and thought of often. Bob is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Shirley Owens Barringer; his daughters, Ann Tucker and husband, Tommy of Elm City, and Debi Luper of Wilson; his sons, Spencer Manning and wife, Ann of Wilson, and Mike Manning and wife, LuEllen of Elm City; his granddaughters, Nicki Warrick of Goldsboro, Tonya Tucker Cook of Staunton, Virginia, Missy Lucas Schmid of Wilson and Dr. Lauren Manning of Portland, Oregon; and his grandsons, Spencer Manning of Benson and Bobby Manning of Bailey and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Parxs Barringer and Mae Hathcock Barringer; his sister, Janet Clark and brother, William M. Baker.
