Robert Louis Etheridge
February 18, 1934 – January 19, 2021
Robert Louis Etheridge, 86 of Bailey passed away Tuesday. His funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will be private. The Rev. Danny Harris and Rev. Elwood Long will officiate. Masks are required and social distancing is requested.
Friends are welcome from 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. There will be no formal visitation with the family.
Louis served honorably and faithfully with the U.S. Army. He was a longtime member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a deacon. Robert worked for Corbett Motor Company, JC Harris Cadillac, LBJ Chevrolet and James Finch Chevrolet. He was the owner and operator of Louis Etheridge Body Shop.
He was a very loving, caring and compassionate man that loved his family and friends with his whole heart. To know him was to love him. He loved being outside and working at his shop. He was the happiest when he was on his tractor and helping others.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of six years, Louise Pridgen Etheridge of the home; daughter, Gail Etheridge Davis and husband, Stanley of Wilson; grandchildren, Shanna Sanders Wood, and husband, Ricky, Blake Sanders, David Howell, Daniel Howell and Zachary Howell; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Wood, Silas Wood, and Jarrah Wood, and Alexi Sanders and Landen Sanders and his step-children, Deborah Hackney and husband, Gary of Social Circle, Georgia, Teresa Garman and husband, David of Forsythe, Georgia, Donna Gaddy and husband, Jim of Chipley, Florida and Todd Pridgen of Gulfport, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ernestine Godwin Etheridge; daughter, Cindy E. Howell; sisters, Margaret Hoard, Ruby Wells, Ethel Peele, Dorothy Webb and Barbara Ann Kelsey and his brother, Tommy Etheridge.
