November 19, 1946 – March 7, 2014

Robert Reed Simmons, 67, of Lucama passed away Thursday.  A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s.  The Rev. Tim McFatter will officiate. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend to all that knew him.  He was deeply loved and will be thought of often and greatly missed. Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Simmons of the home; his daughters, Theresa Thomas and husband, James of Snow Hill and Lena Collier and husband, Travis of Lucama; his sons, Johnny Reed Simmons and wife, Christine of Clayton, Robert Wayne Simmons and wife, Tamera of Black Creek and Richard Calvin Simmons and wife, Jennifer of Roanoke Rapids; his twelve grandchildren; his seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Lena Pauline Thurman of Pink Hill; four sisters and three brothers.
