Roger L. Melton

September 5, 1944 – January 28, 2022

 Roger L. Melton, 77, of Wilson, passed away Friday. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Bailey Church of God.  Pastor Daniel Taylor will officiate.

 The family will receive friends immediately prior to the memorial service and at other times at the families’ respective homes.

 Roger was a marketing and advertising manager until his retirement. H was with North Hills Mall for many years and then Parkwood Mall where he started the fireworks tradition that remained as an ongoing event for many years. Roger then went to The Wilson Daily Times for several years before accepting a marketing manager position with Golden East Mall in Rocky Mount. He finished his career as advertising director for School Link.

 Roger enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family in his spare time. He also enjoyed photography and digital design as well as hiking and model making.

 Roger is survived by his son, Toby S. Melton and fiancé, Lisa Williamson, of Wilson; daughter, Denise Eastman and husband, Joshua, of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Mykal Hammock, Tyler Melton, Trinity Melton and Tiegan Eastman; great granddaughter, Harmony Grace and special friend, Patrick K. Mayo.

 He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Teresa herring Melton of the home and parents, George Melton and Margaret Toler.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Bailey Church of God, 5918 Stott Street, Bailey, North Carolina, 27807.
