Roy Alfred Stancil
May 12, 1925 – March 12, 2017
Roy “Ray” A. Stancil, 91, of Wilson passed away Sunday. His funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 1407 Forest Hills Road, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Justin Deeter will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10 – 10:45 a.m. at Forest Hills Baptist Church, and other times at the home.
Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him. He was an Army Veteran that served his country with honor and pride during the World War II. Ray was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Muriel Mercer Stancil of the home; his daughters, Melissa Pflaeging of Richmond, Virginia, and Sharon Howard and husband, Brad of Richmond, Virginia; his son-in-law, Brent Plyer of Riverton; granddaughters, Caroline Howard, and Mathilda Pflaeging; his grandsons, Taylor Howard, and Jordan Howard and wife, Ariel, and his great-grandson, Avery Howard, II.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Plyer.
