Ruby J. Reason March 1, 1938 – September 22, 2021 Ruby J. Reason, 83 of Wilson, beloved wife of Reuben Reason, met Jesus face to face on Wednesday, September 22. She passed from this life with family by her side, leaving behind all her pain and suffering. Born on March 1, 1938, near Black Creek, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Minnie Jackson. During her high school years, she was honored as homecoming queen and co-head cheerleader of the Lee Woodard Panthers. She was co-owner of Clover Farm and Food Village Supermarket, the family business on Herring Avenue, from 1963- 1991. Ruby was a passionate genealogist and authored four books as a result of her extensive research. Ruby was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Wilson. She loved serving the Lord in many capacities in the church over her lifetime, including leading the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. She enjoyed her role as a homemaker after retirement and loved to work in her yard. Ruby was a great southern cook and found a lot of pleasure in cooking delicious meals for her family. Most importantly, she was a Godly woman who showed her concern for the spiritual needs of others through prayers, counseling and sharing the Gospel. Ruby was preceded in death by her father, Walter Jackson; mother, Minnie Daniel Jackson; granddaughter, Diana Reason; sisters, Lavada Rackley, Thelma Jackson, and Fairene Capps; brothers, Charlie Jackson, Rev. Aubrey Jackson, Harold Jackson, and Vernon Jackson. In addition to the love of her life, Reuben Reason for sixty-seven years, she is survived by her sons, Jeff Reason and wife, Jayne of Nova Scotia, Canada, and Tony Reason and wife, Lorre of Charlotte; grandchildren, Michelle Smith and husband, Brandon, Jeffery Reason, Deanna Wall and husband, Ben, Joseph Reason and wife, Allison, Jason Reason, Bentley Reason; great-grandchildren, Cohen Smith, Crosby Smith, Addison Wall, Lucas Wall, Wells Reason, and the soon arrival of “baby Reason”; her sister-in-law, Audrey Jackson and very special nieces and nephews. Visitation with friends and family will be Sunday from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Otis Holmes Family Center, 1815 Airport Boulevard NW, Wilson. The celebration of Ruby’s life will take place Monday, at 2 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, in the Sanctuary with Dr. Joe Shakour, Dr. Jeff Reason and Dr. Bob Jones, III officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, 2800 Nash Street N, Wilson. Flowers are welcome, but as an alternative, memorial contributions can be given through Tabernacle Baptist Church and designated to Forest Glen Bible Camp of Nova Scotia, Canada.
