Ruth Elizabeth Bissette Frazier
Ruth Elizabeth “Beth” Bissette Frazier went home to her Lord and Savior on September 2, 2021. She told her grandfather when she was six years old that she joined the Bailey United Methodist Church because “I Love Jesus” and that remained the basic tenet of her faith for all of her life. Later as an adult she told many people that her priorities in life were to “serve God”, serve my family and to do my best in my career as a mathematics educator. She succeeded.
As a charter member of West Nash UMC, she served from cleaning the kitchen to Sunday School Teacher to numerous other positions including Building Fund Committee Chair for the present fellowship hall/education building. She served nearly every position for the West Nash United Methodist Women including three terms as President and was honored with the Legacy Award.
Beth also served many positions in the Rocky Mount District and the North Carolina Conference including President of the district UMW and vice president of the conference UMW. For Conference Summer School she served as Dean, Assistant Dean and Chair of the Board. Beth was a delegate from North Carolina Conference to the World Methodist Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1996. She finished her service to the Conference as a lay Member of the North Carolina Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.
Beth was a loving, supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a master teacher and gifted with organizational skills that served her well as mathematics supervisor of Wilson County Schools.
Beth is survived by her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Robert “Bob”; children, Carl Frazier (Mary-Ellen), David Frazier and Ruth Barnes (Sanford); granddaughters, Elizabeth O’Quinn (Jason), Ellen Frazier, Catherine Frazier, and Sarah Barnes; great-grandson, J.P. O’Quinn, and Bennett O’Quinn; nephews, Corey Bissette (Janet), Charles Bissette (Kelly), and Matthew Bissette (Leah); a special cousin Mickey Bissette and cousins too numerous to list.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allard C., and Frances W. Bissette and brothers, David, and Callie Bissette; sister, Frances and sister-in-law, Phyllis P. Bissette.
The family is thankful for the staff at Parkwood Village Assisted Living Community and Community Home Care and Hospice for the caring, compassionate, and professional care that they provided Beth for her last few years.
A private graveside service was held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in Beth’s memory to West Nash UMC, 2200 Nash Street, Wilson, North Carolina 27896 or the Dr. and Mrs. Robert C. Frazier Sr. Endowed Scholarship, Barton College, PO Box 5000, Wilson, North Carolina 27893.
