Ruth Thigpen Outland

Ruth Thigpen Outland March 5, 1922 – September 21, 2017 Ruth Thigpen Outland, 95, of Wilson passed away peacefully with her family at her side Thursday afternoon. Her funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Farmington Heights Church, Wilson. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Rock Hill Cemetery. The Rev. LaVon Phillips will officiate. Family will receive friends 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. Monday prior to and immediately following service at Farmington Heights Church, 910 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. Ruth is survived by her son of the home, Dennis Outland; three daughters, Ethelene Worrell of Sims, Annette Barnes (Joseph) of Wilson, Inez Bunn (Miles) of Wilson, and her son-in-law, Thurman Pipkin of Wilson; her grandchildren, Barry Worrell (Stephanie), Gregory Worrell (Dawn), Michael Spurgeon (Lori), Tammy Brantley (Pat), Dana Bardin (Matthew), Matthew Bunn (Christy), and Jonathan Bunn (Meredith), and eleven great-grandchildren. She had many very special friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Outland; her daughter, Georgia Pipkin; grandson, Sidney Barnes; her parents, George and Lillie Thigpen; brother, Rosevelt Thigpen; sister, Marie Lamm, and son-in-law, Jim Worrell.
