Samuel “Sam” Thornton Boone, 22, of Wilson passed away Tuesday.  A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, 207 Vance Street N.W., Wilson. The Rev. Gary Walling will officiate.  A private interment will be held in Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday immediately following the service at the home of Doug and Brenda Boone. Sam loved the beach, traveling, music and he had a great love for animals.  He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Sam is survived by his father, Douglas H. Boone and wife, Brenda of Wilson; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Thornton of Goldsboro; his three aunts, Linda T. Davidson of Wilmington, Judie Whitley and husband, Charles of Wilson and Betsy Hunter and husband, James of Lincoln, Maine; his three uncles, Joseph Thornton and wife, Laura of Short Hills, NY, Thomas E. Boone and wife, Judy of Wilson and David Thornton of Elizabeth, CO and a several cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Thornton Boone; maternal grandfather, Robert Thornton; paternal grandparents, Edgar and Teri Boone and Sue Wines Boone.
