Samuel W. -Sam- Whitley

Samuel W. -Sam- Whitley, 71, of Middlesex, passed away Sunday.-A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex.-The Rev. Blake Stallings and the Rev. Roy Jernigan will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner-s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at his residence.
Sam was a plumber and a volunteer firefighter for the Middlesex community for over thirty-five years before his declining in health.-When Sam had any time away from either of these activities, he was usually outside grilling a pig for everyone to enjoy.-As he would say right before turning it over, -Now we are getting on with the program.--We will miss you Sam.
Sam is survived by his wife, Faye Hinnant Whitley of the home; his daughter, Cindy Whitley Anderson and husband, Jeff of Middlesex; his granddaughter, Ashley Anderson and his grandson, Taylor Anderson both of Middlesex and his sister, Joyce W. Eatmon and husband, Mack of Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burvis Whitley and Maude G. Whitley Snead and his brothers, William Whitley and Garland Whitley.
