Sarah Livia Peralta Smith

Sarah “Sally” Livia Peralta Smith, 78 passed away peacefully at home with beloved family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. A funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 700 Nash Street, Wilson. Father Jeffery Bowker will officiate.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Adolfo Rafael and Sara Livia Peralta.
Married to James “Jim” Smith for over fifty years, Sally was a loving wife, mother, and friend to all. She was an active member for over thirty years at her church, St. Therese Catholic Church in Wilson, known for cooking meals for the priests during Penance Services, a Lector and Eucharistic Minister as well as volunteering at church. She volunteered her time at Greenfield School and was a Master Gardener. Sally was a wonderful cook, loved to shop, gardening and she was an avid reader. She was a very special person who lived life to the fullest and she will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched. Sally was very much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Sally is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Jennifer and her partner, Shane White of Wilson; son, Stephen Smith and wife, Kathryn Ashby of Greensboro; her treasured granddaughters, Meleah and Rebekah Ashby-Smith; brother, Ralph Peralta and wife, Lora of Louisiana; nieces and nephews, Robin, Penny, Doug, Jessica and their families from Pennsylvania and Maryland; cousins in Florida and Puerto Rico; friends of the church, Primetimers, Greenfield School, Master Gardeners and Women’s Club of Wilson.
