Shirley Ann McNeill Price
January 1, 1940 – April 4, 2021
Shirley Ann McNeill Price, 81, went to her heavenly home on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was born January 1, 1940, to James Melvin McNeill, Sr. and Louise Bounds McNeill in Red Springs, North Carolina.
Shirley grew up in Red Springs and attended Red Springs High School. She met Donnie Price in January 1957 and they were married on April 14, 1957. This marriage, after just a three-month courtship, lasted for 64 years. They were two peas in a pod the whole time. When you saw one, you saw the other. They worked together in farming and greenhouse businesses for many years. She took great pleasure in her seven children, all married to their original spouses, her 18 grandchildren and her 14 great-grandchildren. Raising children in a Christian home was among the most important purposes of her life and one could be sure that her husband and children would be in church every time the doors were open. She was one of the founding members of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Wilson Camp of Gideons International.
She is survived by Donnie, her husband of 64 years, children, Larry and wife Cindy, Ronnie and wife Kathy, Wayne and wife Ellen, Donna Duncan and husband Terry, David and wife Sharon, Donnie and wife Tracy, and Thomas and wife Candace, 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and sister, Nancy Brown.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Melvin and Louise McNeill, two brothers, Jimmy and Allen, sister Melba, and grandsons Jason Price and Ian Price.
Her funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Wilson. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex. The Reverend Donnie Price, Jr. and the Reverend Jonathan Ange will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1815 Airport Blvd. NW Wilson, and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rosebud Baptist Church, 4313 Rosebud Church Rd, Wilson, NC 27893.
Condolences directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home and Crematory at www.joyners.net.
