Shirley Rae Rice Lyons, 78, of Wilson passed away Monday, September 29, 2014.  Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.  The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Friday evening at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed and thought of often.  Shirley graduated from Kenly High School in 1954. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Ida Marie Hegg of Wilson and Theresa “Terri” Chirinos and husband, Carlo of Palm Bay, Florida; her sons, Ambrose “Frank” Lyons IV and wife, Karen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Chuck Lyons of Wilson, James “Tony” Lyons and wife, June of Homestead, Florida, Andrew Lyons and wife, Clara of Kendall, Florida, Patrick Lyons and wife, Tracy of Spartanburg, South Carolina and William “Billy” Lyons of Spartanburg, South Carolina; her fourteen grandchildren; her three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Grace Gibbs of Augusta, Georgia and Gloria Littleton of Four Oaks; her brother, Carl “Dobby” Rice and Eva of Lucama; Linda Dillard, who was like a sister and her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Lyons of Fremont. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert May Rice and Ida Barnes Rice and her brother, James “Buddy” Rice.
