Shirley Owens Manning Barringer January 8, 1935 – February 6, 2020 Shirley Owens Manning Barringer, 86 of Elm City passed away Thursday. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Maplewood Cemetery, 400 College Street NE, Wilson. The Rev. Carrol Bradberry will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 -8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Ann Manning Tucker and husband, Tommy of Elm City and Debi Manning Newton and husband, Dub of Wilson; sons, Spencer Manning and wife, Ann of Wilson and Mike Manning and wife, LuEllen of Elm City; granddaughters, Tonia Tucker Cook and husband, Clark of Staunton, Virginia, Missy Schmid and husband, Ken of Wilson, Dr. Lauren Manning and husband, Dr. Peter Dennis of Portland, Oregon and Nickie Manning Warrick and husband, Jay of Goldsboro; grandsons, Spencer Manning, Jr. of Benson and fiancé, Amanda Nunnery and Bobby Manning and wife, Lori of Bailey; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Nealie Owens; brothers, Richard Gaston Owens and Charles Melvin Owens and her first husband, Joseph Wendell Manning and second husband, Robert Davis Barringer. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their wonderful support, kindness and love given to Shirley.
