Shirley Howell Owens December 8, 1937 – February 16, 2016 Shirley Howell Owens, 78, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at The Church of God, 7256 Hwy 301 South, Lucama. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Clarence Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to all that knew her. She was dearly loved, will be greatly missed and thought of often with memories that will warm the heart. Shirley is survived her loving husband of fifty-four years, James “Buddy” Owens of the home; her son, Ray Owens and wife, Becky of Elm City; her grandsons, Daniel and Caleb Owens both of Elm City, and her sister, Ethel Lamm of Wilson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Owens; granddaughter, Kristen Owens; parents, Kirby Howell and Eugenia Wooten Howell Parker; sisters, Lucille Stallings, and Blanch Lamm, and her brothers, Marvin Howell, William Howell, and J.P.
