Shirley Glover Skinner July 1, 1936 – March 12, 2015 Shirley Glover Skinner, 78, of Saratoga passed away Thursday evening surrounded by her loving family. Her funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Stantonsburg Cemetery, Stantonsburg. The Rev. Robert Goff will officiate. The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, granny, sister and a friend to all that knew her. She will be thought of often with memories that will warm the heart and bring smiles. Shirley is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Frank Skinner; her daughters, Lisa Cates of Saratoga and Lori Goff and husband, Robert of Fremont; grandchildren, Jennifer Cook and husband, Randell of Bailey, Danyel Cates (Liz) of New York, Tabatha Cates of Saratoga, Brad Joyner and wife, Brittany of Middlesex, Kendall Cates and wife, Maranda of Lucama, Tyler Joyner of Saratoga and Landin Proctor of Fremont; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Madison and Michael Cook all of Bailey, Konner Marshall and Isaiah Brooks all of New York, Austin, Carter and Khole Cates all of Lucama, Hannah and Savannah Cates both of Saratoga; her sister, Nell Holloway of Florida, Jean Stone of Florida and her brother, Vernon Glover of Rocky Mount. She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Skinner; her parents, Jimmie Jackson and Ada Mazie Hopkins Glover and seven brothers. Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net.
