Shirley Joyner Strickland

Shirley Joyner Strickland October 28, 1938 – June 11, 2021 Shirley Joyner Strickland, 82 of Wilson passed away Friday. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5260 Old Raleigh Road, Wilson. The Rev. Woody Parrish will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 – 1:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Cindy McLaughlin, and Karen Parramore; son, Doug Strickland, Jr.; granddaughter, Erica Little; grandsons, C.J. Ellis, Tanner Brooks Ellis, Phillip Morgan, and Jeremiah McLaughlin; fourteen great-grandchildren, and her sister, Frances Bernecker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erick Douglas Strickland; parents, William and Mammie Joyner, and her seven sisters and brothers.
