Sue Boykin Stott July 6, 1930 – September 1, 2017 Sue Boykin Stott, 87, of Wilson passed away Friday at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Her funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Marsh Swamp Church. Interment will follow in Marsh Swamp OFW Baptist Cemetery. The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate. The family will receive friends 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. prior to service at Marsh Swamp OFW Baptist Church, 6664 Rock Ridge School Road, Sims, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Wilmer and Irene Boykin, and grew up in the Rock Ridge community. Sue was a graduate of the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, followed by a Masters in Library Science at East Carolina University. She worked for the Wilson County Schools for 43 years as a teacher and librarian. She was a past president of the Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma professional honor society for women educators. She was a longtime member and past president of The Wilson Woman’s Club. Sue was an avid reader and also enjoyed cooking and traveling. Sue is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Stott Holmes and husband, James of Greenville; son, Alsey T. Stott IV of Wilson; granddaughters, Lauren Stott of Wilson and Dresden Holmes of Greenville; grandsons, Beau Holmes of Greenville and Ben Stott of Albemarle; sister, Carol Boykin Adkison of Charlotte; sister-in-laws, Janet Stott Nichols and Emogene Stott Boyette both of Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Thomas Stott, III. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Marsh Swamp Building Fund, 6504 Rock Ridge School Road, Wilson, North Carolina, 27893.
