Sue “Susie” Smith Winstead, 77, of Wilson passed away Friday, August 30, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, at First Christian Church, 207 Tarboro Street NE, Wilson. Rev. Scott Schieber will officiate. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. 

Sue had a passion for painting and pottery. She worked at BBT and retired from Greenfield School as a business accountant. Sue was an amazing lady that made friends with all who knew her, she was dearly loved and will be missed with wonderful thoughts. 

Susie is survived by her daughter, Laurie Tyson and husband, Bill of Stantonsburg; son, Steven Winstead of Elm City; grandson, Noah; sisters, Betty Woodard and husband, J.E. of Wilson, and Edith Proctor and husband, W.T. of Oak Island and her brother, Joe Smith. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Elder Phillip “Phil” Edward Winstead and her brother, Elwood Lee Smith.
