Thelma Owens Newcomb

Thelma Owens Newcomb September 6, 1927 - August 31, 2017 Thelma Owens Newcomb, 89, of Wilson passed away peacefully Thursday morning surrounded by family. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Alex Ellis will officiate. The family will receive visitor at the home of her daughter, Carol Newcomb Ellis. To any who knew her, she will be remembered for her love of her family, remarkable spirit and tireless passion for her work at the family business, Newcomb Lighting. She continued to work daily up until recently, rarely missing an opportunity to be at the store where she loved to help any who came in. Thelma leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Carol N. Ellis of Wilson; grandson, Brian L. Ellis and wife, Angie of Wilson; great-granddaughters, Morgan and Holland Ellis of Wilson; sister, Hortense Ford of Town Creek; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, J.C. Newcomb;  parents, Rom and Sudie Owens, and her  brothers, Leonard and Carlton Owens.
