Thomas McLeon Carr III, 37, of Elm City passed away suddenly Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at his home.  Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S Circle Drive, Rocky Mount.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.  The Rev. John Dutton, Rev. Stuart Milton, Rev. Terry Huffines and Rev. Erin Simpson will officiate. The family will receive friends 12:30 – 1:45 Thursday prior to the service at Englewood Methodist Church, Rocky Mount. Thomas had a kind and generous soul.  He touched the lives of those he knew with his kindness and generous spirit.  He was a devoted daddy to his girls, Leah and Peyton, who brought him joy and pride every day of his life. He loved attending all of the many activities in which they participated.  Thomas was a wonderful daddy, husband, son, and brother.   He was always there for them through his love and support. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; he loved the outdoors and being close to nature which was nurtured, from his childhood, by his Pa Britt and his Daddy.  Thomas always felt at home in the woods.  Thomas was a member of Englewood United Methodist Church.  He worked in the family business, Equipment Sales and Service along side of his daddy, Mac.  He cherished his loving relationship with his children, whom he adored and all of his family and friends.  Thomas was dearly loved by his entire family including his aunts, uncles and cousins.  He will always be remembered by his family and friends for his laughter and his loving lighthearted spirit. Thomas leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Stacie Ezzell Carr of the home; his daughters, Leah and Peyton of the home; his parents, Mac and Donna Carr of Wilson; his sister, Beth Carr Lancaster and husband, Kevin of Lake Tillery; his nephews, Hunter and Drew Lancaster of Lake Tillery; his aunts, Jane B. Burke and husband, Bob of Wilson, Connie B. Moseley and husband, Jim of Greenville; and his uncles, Samuel H. Britt and special friend, Merle of Wilmington, Howard A. Britt of Hampton, Virginia and Billy Carr and wife, Helyn of Winston Salem. Thomas was the grandson of the late Thomas McLeon Carr, Sr. and Theonah Hairr Carr and the late Ash Britt, Jr. and Eunice Bryant Britt. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Donna Britt Carr Teacher Scholarship, Southern Nash High School, 6446 Southern Nash High Road, Bailey, NC  27807; Englewood Methodist Church, PO Box 7128, Rocky Mount, NC  27803; Mulligan Fore Kids, PO Box 3413, Wilson, NC  27895 or to the charity of one’s choice.
