Thomas Adlai Ellington

Thomas Adlai Ellington, 72 of Sims passed away Friday.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.  Interment will follow in Bailey Town Cemetery, Bailey.  The Rev. Larry Barlow will officiate.

The family will receive Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Thomas served his country with honor and pride with the Special Forces Airborne.  He was an avid long-range shooter and won many competitions, and he enjoyed NASCAR, dirt racing, fishing, being outside and he loved his family and the time spent with them.  Thomas was dearly loved and will be greatly missed and thought of often with wonderful memories that will bring a smile.  

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Emory Ellington; son, James Thomas Ellington; grandson, Jacob Ellington (Haley); granddaughter, Jana Ellington (Hunter); great-granddaughters, Harper Parrish and Reagan Ellington and George Hughes “Steamboat” who was a father figure, and several loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Ellington and mother, Hattie Papuga.
