Thomas Carol Watson
January 17, 1927 – March 10, 2016
Thomas Carol Watson, 89, of Wilson passed away Thursday. A private graveside service will be held in Maplewood. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
He ran Carol’s Grill on Herring Avenue for forty-three years, where he enjoyed serving his friends and patrons. Carol was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed and thought of often with wonderful memories.
Carol is survived by his loving wife for thirty years, Mary Virginia Watson; his daughter, Carole Elizabeth “Beth” Watson and friend, Jay Reid of Wilson; son, Gene Carol Watson and wife, Patty of Wilson, four grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and his brothers, Jim Watson and wife, Sarah of Kenly and Joe Watson and wife, Martha of South Port.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Jean Elizabeth Watson; parents, Zeb Fitzhugh Watson and Lillie Bell Fields Watson; sisters, Evelyn Henry and husband, Dixon and Elizabeth Watson, and his brothers, Zeb F. “Bud” Watson, Jr., and Charles Watson and wife, Eula May.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in Carol’s memory to the WilMed Hospice, 1705 Tarboro Street S, Wilson, North Carolina 27893.
