Tonya Tilton Evans
September 28, 1969 – July 24, 2017
Tonya Tilton Evans age 47 of Wilson, joined her heavenly father on Monday, July 24
th after a lifelong fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
Tonya is survived by the light of her life, her son, Thomas Tilton Evans of the home; her loving parents, Brenda and John Tilton of Wilson; her close companion, Chance her rescue lab, and her best friends, the BFFs for CF.
Tonya was born in Goldsboro and was raised in Cape Carteret. She graduated from West Carteret High in 1987, and received her under graduate degree from Meredith College in 1991, after which she obtained her Master’s degree from ECU in 1993. She spent fifteen years in education with her last assignment as a Counselor at Southern Nash High School. Tonya’s favorite past time, besides anything with Tilton, was being on the beach.
Tonya had a deep faith in her Lord and we know she breathes easy now as she walks the path of gold in heaven.
To her many friends, we cannot express words to describe what your deep and thoughtful friendship meant to Tonya and her family. To Rev. Robert Bergland, Rev. Charles Robl, and the family of First United Methodist Church, thank you for your prayers and support. Please keep Tonya and Tilton close to your hearts. To the staff at MICU, UNC Hospital, her CF physician, Dr. Raymond Coakley and the great nursing staff, thank you for your compassionate care of our Angel.
Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Charles Robl will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of her parents, Brenda and John Tilton, 4929 Country Club Road, Wilson.
