Vance Barnes, Jr.
January 27, 1928 – September 10, 2016
Vance Barnes, Jr., 88, of Wilson passed away Saturday. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Billy Ray Lucas will officiate. The family will receive friends at home.
Vance served his country with honor and pride while in the Army. He loved Nash General Hospital and enjoyed talking to people, no one was a stranger. Vance was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed and thought of often with memories that will warm the heart.
Vance is survived by his wife, Susie B. Barnes of the home; his daughters, Hope Smith and husband, David of Cameron, and Amy Karcher and husband, Frank of Raleigh; his granddaughter, Summer Karcher of Raleigh; grandsons, James “Jamie” Harrison, III and wife, Jenn of Sanford, and Randall Karcher of Raleigh; great-granddaughter, Karmyn Reaves of Sanford; great-grandson, Roman Harrison of Sanford, and his sister, Mildred Greene of Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Pearl Amerson Barnes and his brother, James Alvin Barnes.
