Velma Lucas Davis

Velma Lucas Davis, 94, of Wilson passed away Monday, December 9, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, at Shiloh Church, 5854 Shiloh Church Road, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Rev. Danny Harris and Rev. Jeff Smith will officiate.

 The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 12 – 1:45 p.m. at Shiloh Church, Wilson.

 Velma was an active member and faithful servant to her church, and she was a Gray Lady with the Wilson Red Cross Association. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Velma was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

Velma is survived by her sons, Keith Davis and wife, Susan of Sims, and Robbie Davis and wife, Cathy of Bailey; daughter-in-law, Gail Davis of Wilson; grandchildren, Shanna Wood and husband, Ricky, Blake Sanders, Jonathan Davis and wife, Allison, Meagan Eldridge and husband, Justin, and Jason Lee and wife, Erin, and her great-grandchildren, Kaleb Wood, Silas Wood, Jarrah Wood, Alexis Sanders, Landen Sanders, Keira London Lee, Marshall Ray Lee, Jonathan Drake Davis, Jonathan Glenn Eldridge, Susanna Marie Eldridge, and Lawton Keith Eldridge; her brother, Blaine Lucas and wife, Charlene, and her sister-in-law, Sarah Frances Lucas.

 She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Glenn Ruffin Davis; son, Stanley Davis; parents, Bennie and Minnie Lucas; step-mother, Mattie Lucas; sisters, Hazel Dixon, and Frances Lucas, and her brothers, Eugene Lucas, Roman Lucas, LeLand Lucas, and Bennie Lucas, Jr.

 The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to special caregivers, Becky and Krystal, and 3HC Hospice for their care and compassion given to Velma.
