Vernon Bee Barnett

Vernon Bee Barnett, 72 of Wilson passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at East Gate Church, 2301 Montgomery Drive W, Wilson. Pastor Gary Combs will officiate.

 The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 – 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at East Gate Church, Wilson.

 Bee grew up in Kinston, North Carolina. He attended South Lenoir High School where he was very active in sports. He played football and baseball. Bee graduated from Lenoir Community College with an associate degree in auto mechanics. Soon after graduating from LCC he met and married Becky and started his family. 

 Bee began his career at the family business, Barnett Truck Lines, Inc as a diesel mechanic for many years. Then he became the Solid Waste Director for Lenoir and Duplin County. Bee loved his family and dogs with all his heart. 

 Bee is survived by his wife, Becky R. Barnett of Wilson; daughter, Jennifer Barnett of Wilson; son, Vern Barnett of Wilson; grandson, Luke Bee Barnett; sister, Caroline Hardison and husband, Kent of Kinston; brother, Dempsey Barnett and wife, Debbie of Kinston, and his sister-in-law, Judy Barnett of Kinston.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Maxine Barnett, and his brothers, Dexter Barnett and Danny Barnett.
