Virginia was beautiful inside and out. She was a remarkable woman who embodied spunk, wanderlust, and entrepreneurial spirit. As the valedictorian of her class at Glendale High School, she set the stage for life of achievement. Always working in the yard, her passion for flowers bloomed into Price’s Nursery in Lucama and a business that thrived in downtown Wilson. From seed store to garden center, and eventually a florist and gift shop, Virginia’s creativity knew no bounds.

Her leadership extended beyond business. She earned numerous service awards through the Wilson County Extension Service, spearheading beautification projects with St. Mary’s Jr. Extension Homemakers and St. Mary’s 4-H. Virginia’s eye for detail and perfection graced countless weddings across North Carolina. She had the unique ability to turn a simple family gathering, reunion or celebration into a fun-filled themed event that welcomed everyone.

Virginia’s zest for life extended beyond her garden and business ventures. She had an uncanny ability to weave enchantment into everyday occasions. From tea parties with her grandchildren to playful gatherings, her themed parties and events were legendary. Whether it was a Snoopy Christmas, a summer gathering, a special anniversary or birthday celebration, Virginia’s creativity knew no bounds. Her laughter-filled gatherings brought people together, leaving cherished memories etched in our hearts.

Even in retirement, she remained active in the community, finding joy in fellowship with friends and her church. As a dedicated wife and caregiver to her husband of fifty-three years, Billy Ray Price, Virginia exemplified love and commitment.

Virginia is survived by her son, Bill Price (Joy) of Lucama, and her daughter, Beth Price Skinner (Keith) of Wake Forest. Her legacy lives on through seven grandchildren, Mary Sander (Billy), William Price (Casie), Joshua Price, Rebecca Talton (Schyler), Hannah Boone (Tyler), Wesley Skinner and Ashley Skinner; six great-grandchildren, Riley, Sophie, Corbin, Jeremiah, Brenna, and Olivia to carry forward her spirit, and her sister, Martha Spencer (Kent) of Wilson and Carol Creech of Clayton, and Steve Creech of Selma.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Billy Ray Price; parents, Eddie and Miggie Creech, and sisters, Lou Johnson, and Betty Jean Johnson.

Flowers are welcome or please consider memorials in Virginia’s memory to Upper Black Creek Cemetery Fund, c/o Sandra Murray, 6608 Blalock Road, Lucama, North Carolina 27851 or to St. Mary’s Original Free Baptist Church, PO Box 56, Lucama, North Carolina 27851.
