W. Rufus Winstead

W. Rufus Winstead July 21, 1937 – November 17, 2020 W. Rufus Winstead, 83 of Wilson passed away Tuesday. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Daniel Vester will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Rufus was the owner and operator of Wilson Overhead Door Service in Wilson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Rufus is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Janice Davenport Winstead; daughter, Cindy Hinnant and husband, Joe; son, Dennis Winstead and wife, Denise; grandchildren, T.J. Winstead, Michael Webb and wife, Victoria, Jo Anna Stox and husband, D.J., Jessica Chaney and husband, Cameron and Joy Leigh Hinnant and friend, Alex; great-grandchildren, Bryce Winstead, Kenzie Webb and Connor Chaney and his sister, Sylvia Rice. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Sally Wood Winstead and his sister, Joan Lamm. Flowers are welcome or please consider a charity of one’s choice.
