Wilbur Frank Thorne

Wilbur Frank Thorne, 85 of Wilson went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife of sixty-three years on Monday, May 20, 2024.  He was a proud veteran serving his country in the 101^st Airborne division. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.  Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson.  Rev. Randy Jones will officiate.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Wilbur is survived by his son, Jeffery Thorne and wife Donna of Wilson and their children Amanda Thorne, Jessica Allen and husband, Aaron,  and Danielle Thorne; his daughters, Teresa Barefoot and husband David of Wilson and their children Joy Aldrich and husband, Matt, Kara Varnell and husband, Caleb, Jeffery Barefoot and wife, Amber, Christopher Barefoot and wife, Jana,  Caleb Barefoot and wife, Quinn; Susan Daniels of Wilson and her children Judith Velaquez and Kristina Hudson and husband, Thomas, and Rebekah Barr of Wilson, and her children Abigail Barr and Thorne Barr along with  eighteen great grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Thorne; his parents, Henry and Leona Thorne; sisters, Edna Page, Ella Mae Mozingo, Helen Thorne, and Janet Varnell; brother, Melvin Thorne, and nephew, Reynold Page.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Servicemen Centers through Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1815 Airport Boulevard W, Wilson, North Carolina 27893
