A much-loved daddy, papa, brother and friend, William “Randy” Boyette, 73, of Lucama passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 23, 2025.
Randy was born to George and Rena Boyette, on May 22, 1951. He enjoyed baseball and old cars. He spent his early career at Mello Ice Cream and then worked for Bridgestone/Firestone until he retired in 2005. Later in life, he developed a love for cutting grass and could be found on a lawn mower most days. Randy married the love of his life, Carolyn, in 1971, and cared for her until her passing in 2009. He was a devoted daddy to his three children, and an even more devoted papa to his four grandchildren, who were the apples of his eye. He especially loved watching his granddaughter, Kaylee, play volleyball.
Randy is survived by his children, Randolph Boyette of the home, Lori Lamm and Shawn of Wilson, and Amy Davis and husband, Jerry of Kinston; grandchildren, Brandon Daniels and wife, Mallory of Wilson, Alex Daniels and Shy of Chesapeake, Virginia, Matthew Evans and wife, Jamie of Greenville, and Kaylee Kennedy of Kinston; sisters, Diane Mattox, Sue Farmer and husband, Marvin, Pat Aldridge all of Lucama, Terry Minshew and husband, Mike of Stantonsburg; brother, Bobby Boyette of Maggie Valley; special companion, Patricia Shadding of Lucama, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Carolyn Lee Boyette; sister, Gladys Boyette, brother, Wayne Boyette and his parents, George and Rena Boyette.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson with the family receiving friends immediately following and other times at the residence. Inurnment in the Pittman Family Cemetery, Hwy 222, Kenly, North Carolina will be held at a later date. Rev. Sonney Griswold will officiate and his son, Randolph, will speak.
