William Elbert Flowers January 25, 1921-October 11. 2016 William “Bill” Elbert Flowers, 95, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. His funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 100 Green St. NE, Wilson, North Carolina. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Elm City. The Rev. Charles Robl will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, North Carolina. Bill was a WWII veteran and upon his return home he started working at Wilson Hardware where he worked for 58 years. He lived a full and active life, taking trips to the beach and playing tennis with family and friends. He was an avid fan of Duke Athletics. Bill is survived by his great niece, Elizabeth Cobb of Atlantic Beach, NC and his great nephew, Will Cobb of Monroe, NC. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Gertrude and Elisabeth Flowers, his brother, George Flowers and wife Nell and his niece Alice Flowers Cobb.
