William Douglas Gardner November 20, 1938 – May 3, 2018 William Douglas “Doug” Gardner, 79, of Wilson passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife by his side on Thursday. His funeral service will be conducted on Monday at Noon at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday morning starting at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Doug is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Peggy Gardner of the home; daughter, Cathy Jones and husband, Randy of Rock Ridge; sons, Tony Gardner and wife, Pam of Hampstead and Rev. Steve Gardner and wife, Jean of Dinwiddie, Virginia; brother, Henry Gardner of Saratoga; six granddaughters; one grandson; four great-grandchildren, and his loving companion, Puppy. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mabel Gardner; sisters, Ruth Hinton and Janet Jones; brother, Joe Gardner.
