William Gray “Punk” Williams, 81 of Wilson passed away Friday.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.  Interment will follow in Thompson Chapel Cemetery, 5620 Thompson Chapel Church Road, Wilson.  Rev. William Pike and Rev. Matthew Roman will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 -8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the residence.

Punk was a Nash County farmer for over sixty-five years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and spending time with his family, and his Thompson Chapel Church family where he was a member.

Punk is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Betty Smith Williams of the home; son, William Gray “Tater Bug” Williams, Jr. of Wilson; daughters, Lisa Williams Matthews and husband, Thomas “Butch” of Bailey, and Penny Williams Carroll of Wilson and Randy Carroll of Bailey; granddaughter, Megan Carroll of Wilson; step-grandchildren, Angela Matthews Griffin of Rocky Mount, William “Billy” Matthews of Wilmington and Stacy Matthews of Wilson; step great-grandchildren, Thomas Griffin, Hailey Matthews and Alivia Matthews, and his sisters, Janie Sutton of Raleigh, and Cathy Ferrell of Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Worth Bagley and Lessie Lee Williams; sister, Jean Shreffler, and his brother, Jack Williams.
