William Vernon Hudson September 3, 1938 – September 1, 2016 William “Bill” V. Hudson, 77, of Wilson passed away Thursday, September 01, 2016 at his home in Wilson. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church, 337 Lakeview Drive, Madison Heights, Virginia. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia. The Rev. Dan Lee and Rev. John Pickett will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 – 10:45 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, prior to the service. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Christian. He served faithfully as a minister of music, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and a Chaplain of the Marine Corps League. Bill was retired from State Farm Insurance after thirty-five years. He was a graduate of E. C. Glass High School, Lynchburg, Virginia and he attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He was the Golden-Glove Boxing Champion for Virginia State. Bill will be missed by all who knew him as an endearing and cherished friend. Bill is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Betty Middleton Hudson of the home; his daughters, Vickie Scott and husband, David of, Virginia, and Jennifer Gay and husband, Joel of Wilson; his son, Scott Hudson and wife, Racquelle of Binan, Philippines; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Anne Miller of Lynchburg, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eunice Spencer Hudson; a sister, Iris Chenault, and a brother, Everette Hudson.
