William Russell Langston
August 21, 1947 – February 28, 2017
William “Poochie” Langston, 69, of Kenly passed away Tuesday. His funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. B.L. Efird will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 11 – 12:45 a.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
“Poochie” graduated from Lucama High School. He was a lineman for twenty-five years, and former owner and operator of Sunshine Cleaning and Maintenance for fifteen years. “Poochie” was a member of New Life Church of Lucama, and a member and driver of Carolina Class Racers Associates and IHRA Racing.
“Poochie” is survived by his wife, Nettie Langston and great-grandson, Zion Hunter both of the home; his daughters, Teresa Smith and husband, Russell of Graham, and Alice Baker Barnes and husband, Robert of Wilson; grandson, Jason Smith and wife, Leslie of Graham; granddaughters, Stacey Smith of Graham, and Tiffany Baker of Wilson; five great-grandchildren; his brother, Elbert Langston and wife, Jean of Wilson; several uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; Willie Harrell, his loving dog, and by many of his racing partners and grilling buddies of over fifty years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Harry Baker; his parents, Russell and Dorothy Langston; sister, Joann Langston, and a brother, Ronald Langston.
