William Moore “Billy” Whitley, Jr., 57, of Fremont passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Good News Advent Christian Church, Good News Church Road, Stantonsburg. The Rev. Julius Whitley and Rev. Alex Ellis will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Billy was born in Stantonsburg on April 5, 1959, he was the son of the late William Moore Whitley, Sr. and Mary Baynor Whitley and the grandson of the late Richard Lee and Elsie Ellis Whitley of Saratoga, and James Norwood and Huldah Hardy Whitley of Stantonsburg.
Billy especially enjoyed the outdoors, horses, and motorcycles. He knew no stranger and made a friend out of anyone he came in contact with. Billy was an example of kindness and unconditional love, above all he loved his family and his grandchildren were his greatest joy.
He is survived by his daughters, Mandi Whitley and boyfriend, John Ellis, Jr. of Walstonburg, and Magen Horne and husband, Timmy of Stantonsburg; his grandchildren, Eva Barnes and Austin Barnes both of Walstonburg, and Alaina Horne of Stantonsburg, each whom he affectionately nicknamed, “Noodle”, “Monkey”, and “Tinkerbell”; his sister, Mary Ann Crosson and husband, Terry of Greenville; his brother, Richard “Cookie” Whitley and wife, Rose of Fremont; aunt, Marcelle Whitley and her late husband, James Richard of Saratoga; his uncles, Rev. Julius Whitley and wife, Starr of Saratoga, and Dr. Lester Whitley and wife, Barbara of Conway, South Carolina, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
