William Monsor Roccos
June 20, 1937 – October 27, 2017
Beloved son and brother, devoted and loving husband, adored father, loyal friend, dedicated teacher, avid sports fan, and passionate lover of Christ; this is the legacy that will remain of the brilliant life of William (Bill) Monsor Roccos. Bill was born on June 20, 1937 to Sassine and Jennie Roccos on the east side of Detroit, Michigan. He left this earth to join his family and all the heavenly angels on October 27, 2016. His wife, Cecilia Roccos (Maher) and children, Susan and Dave Ohlinger, Renee Salyers, Jennifer and Bob Zambiasi, Melissa and Mark Hooper and Nicole Roccos and Dr. Edward Clark will honor his memory by exemplifying the life of kindness, compassion and joy that he modeled. He was the beloved brother of Genevieve Walter and Joan DeLave, and father to Kevin Salyers, and has joined them in eternal peace. Bill was an incredible grandfather and leaves behind so many memories of humor and compassion in the lives of Vanessa (Ohlinger) and Jimmy Treires, Jonathon Ohlinger and Xander Jones, Joey Ohlinger, Brittany Salyers, Ashley Salyers, Anthony Zambiasi and Victoria Zambiasi. This spring, he was excitedly anticipating becoming a Jidu- welcoming his first great-grandchild into the world. He will hold him first in Heaven. Bill was blessed with many cousins, nieces and nephews, and was the loving patron of his family for several years.
As a teacher for 45 years, he created a spectacular legacy of lives touched by his love for learning. He also spent 40 years earning all his grey hair as a driver’s education instructor at Metro Driving School. Bill dedicated himself to teaching not just as a profession, but as a calling. He loved children and sought to bring hope and promise to even the toughest neighborhoods in Detroit through his work. He will be missed in every community in which he lived: Detroit, Michigan, Rochester Hills, Michigan, Bath, Michigan and Wilson. Bill was a beautiful soul - full of happiness and purity. He will always be remembered.
