Willis "June Bug" Baker Jr.

January 11, 1935 – December 17, 2021

Willis “June Bug” Baker Jr., 86 of Elm City passed away Friday. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday December 20, 2021, in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Rev. Johnny Hudson will officiate.

The family will receive friends Sunday December 19th from 3 – 5 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Willis spent his days with his loving family as well as his church family at New Beginnings FWB Church in Elm City. Willis also worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Wilson and Alan Owens Construction.

Willis is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Ann Baker of the home; daughters, Deborah Baker Bridgers (Toby) and Barbara Ellis; son, Richard Baker (Roxy); grandchildren, Chad Bridgers (Gina), Ridge Ellis (Taylor Collie), Rebecca Baker, Roseanna Baker and Destiny Horton; great grandchildren, Reed Bridgers and Addison Bridgers; sisters Vonnie Radford and Grace Medlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Annie Baker; sisters, Lois Jobe, Brenda Fenn and Bonnie Bell Barnes and brothers, Thurman Baker and Lester Baker.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Wilson, 2130 Forrest Hills Rd W, Suite A, Wilson North Carolina, 27893 and New Beginning FWB Church, 5607 Gardners School Road, Elm City North Carolina, 27822.
