Wilma Faye Askew

Wilma Faye Askew, 71, of Lucama, went to be her Lord Monday. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Buckhorn United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Ray Wells will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Wilma was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all that knew her. She was a hard worker that enjoyed her retirement and is now at peace. Wilma was loved by all that knew her and will be thought of often with memories that will warm their hearts. Wilma is survived by her son, Dustin Earl Askew of Raleigh; her twin sister, Wanda Turner and husband, Jimmy of Lucama; her granddaughter, Hannah Askew of Whitmore, MI; her sisters, Nelly Whitley of Wilson, Betty Smith of Wilson, Patsy Heinsley and husband, Russ of Wilson and Wynell Thomas and husband, Norman of Wilson; her brother, Austin Fisher of Pikeville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Cora Fisher; her sister, Margeret Mayo and her brother, Charles Layton Fisher.
