Wilmer Elliott Temple
March 4, 1924 – April 9, 2014
Wilmer Elliott Temple, 90, of Wilson passed away Wednesday. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Inurnment will following at a later date. Pastor Elwood Long will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of Diana Hathaway. Wilmer served his country with honor during WWII with the 82nd Airborne that was in Normandy several days before the invasion. He was a retired manager/supervisor for the A&P Stores. He loved his hot rods and gardening. Wilmer was a long time member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church. Wilmer never met a stranger and he enjoyed helping and getting to know others. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a friend to all that knew him. He was loved and will be greatly missed. Wilmer is survived by his wife, Malinda K. Posey Temple of the home; his daughter, Diana Lynn Hathaway and husband, Russell of Elm City; his sons, Terry Lee Temple and wife, Jay of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Johnny Michael Temple of Wilson; his granddaughters, Tracy Barnes of Wilson and Leigh Jay Temple of Raleigh; his great-granddaughter, Elaina C. Barnes of Wilson and Emma Grace Temple, his great-grandson, Wyatt Hicks; his grand dog, Abbey; his sisters, Dorothy McQuiston and husband, Jim of Los Angeles, CA and Martha Klute of Grand Junction of CO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Williams Temple; his parents, Thurston and Gladys Temple and his grand son-in-law.
